This pendant began life as a silver and enamel cufflink by celebrated British silversmith Roger Doyle, later set into a 9ct gold mount hallmarked for 1967. It depicts a scarab beetle, its enamel body glowing in shades of gold, amber and black, perfectly balanced in tone and form.

Roger Doyle’s work is held in the Victoria and Albert Museum, and he was part of the team responsible for the crown used at the 1969 Investiture of the Prince of Wales. Known for his modernist precision and masterful enamel work, his pieces show an exceptional command of colour and detail. This scarab, symbolising renewal and protection, is a strong example of his distinctive and highly collected style.
