This late Victorian double Albert chain by Herbert Bushell and Son shows exactly why their Birmingham workshop is still held in such regard, every solid link stamped 9 375 and built with the precision that marks out serious goldwork. The graduation runs cleanly from 4.75 to 7.25 millimetres with a steady rhythm that gives the chain its presence, and the gold has the deep antique rose colouring that comes from age rather than design tricks. Both dog clips are original and full bodied and the pair of extra curb links at the centre once ready for a T bar or fob, are now ideal to load with charms and pendants. The length is a standout feature as most examples have been shortened or dismantled over the decades and finding one that still runs to twenty point five inches is uncommon and extremely useful for modern styling.
