This is an antique two stone sapphire and diamond ring built in 18 carat gold with a bypass setting where each shoulder is studded with three antique eight cut diamonds. Each sapphire is a natural stone cut to a strong standard with clear symmetry across the crown, measuring four millimetres and holding a bright blue colour that shows flashes of natural zoning. The surrounding diamonds are all eight cuts, the older style of cutting with fewer facets that produces a softer, more diffused glow compared with modern brilliant cuts. The gallery is open with neat circular apertures behind each stone, a traditional construction method that reduces unnecessary weight and allows light to move through the settings so the stones present cleanly.
