At 6.9 by 5.6mm this is a treasure in the truest sense — small enough to sit in the palm of your hand, perfectly formed, and beautifully preserved. The gold has that bright luminous colour that catches the eye instantly and immediately places it in its period.
A single seed pearl sits at the centre of the heart. On the reverse, a memorial hair locket — the most intimate of Victorian keepsakes, made to carry a lock of hair close to the body as a token of love or remembrance. That this example survives intact and in excellent condition is remarkable.
A new 4mm soldered jump ring has been added as the original was too small to carry a chain. Chain not included.
