An antique 12ct gold tassel pendant, XRF tested.
The cap is squared with textured panels and applied bead detail — angular, considered, and immediately antique in character. Below it hang fox link drops, each strand finely articulated with a distinct repeating pattern that catches light as it moves. The contrast between the rigid geometric cap and the fluid fox link below is exactly what makes this work.
Tassels were a popular late nineteenth century motif, worn on long guard chains where their movement could be appreciated. Today they do something different. Most chain stacks sit flat and horizontal. A tassel introduces vertical movement and length, breaking up heavier links and adding texture without adding bulk. On a substantial curb or guard chain the drop creates contrast and focus that nothing else delivers.
