This mid century serpent is built in eighteen carat gold with a true triple wrap band formed from the body, the head and tail set neatly over the coils so the structure is clear and well defined. The head holds an old cut diamond just under four millimetres across which puts it at roughly a .15 of a carat, and the eyes are natural rubies that give a sharp hit of colour against the gold. The construction is solid with the coils meeting tightly and the form carrying real weight at 7.2 grams. It is fully hallmarked for Birmingham 1954 with clean, well struck marks.
